About the Indigo Hut
About The Indigo Hut by its founder, Gail Holdsworth.
In addition to practising and teaching Reiki, I am also a qualified aromatherapist, reflexologist, Indian head massage therapist and hypnotherapist.
In 1997 I graduated from the Open University with a B.Sc.(Hons) and Diploma in Applied Social Science. I had intended that to be the end of any studying but when my mother was ill in hospital later that year an aromatherapist at the hospital gave her a hand/arm massage. This gave my mother such comfort that I began my journey as a complementary therapist at that point and the studying continued. And still continues!
I have worked as a complementary therapist for over 12 years, and for nearly10 years have been part of the complementary therapy team at Treetops, a local hospice. The therapies that are offered there are Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Reiki and Aromatherapy.
I have also taught OCN taster courses in aromatherapy, reflexology and massage at South East Derbyshire College in Ilkeston.
As well as teaching Reiki at all levels throughout the year, I run a Meditation workshop.
When I was thinking what to call my website I remembered that many years ago a clairvoyant had told me that I would come to know a place known as The Hut. I felt that I needed to expand on this and in some way link the name to Reiki. So it became the Indigo Hut. Indigo, linking to the brow chakra, the third eye. It is through this chakra that the ‘knowing’ of spiritual matters is passed down and so influences all other parts of the individual. It connects to the part of creation that is beyond science and physical manifestation. The brow chakra in harmony gives an awareness of the spiritual side of being which invites intuition and inner awareness into everyday life. And that, for me, sums up Reiki, a complementary therapy but also a way of life and a spiritual path.
